What is happening:
- A nerve in the wrist called the median nerve is compressed.
- This affects:
- Thumb
- Index finger
- middle finger
- Half of the ring finger
- Thumb
That’s precisely why those fingers are highlighted in red in the image.
Symptoms:
- Tingling or a sensation of “pins and needles”
- Numbness in those fingers
- weak grip
- Pain that may radiate upwards up the arm.
Common causes:
- Repetitive use of hands (mouse, telephone, typing)
- Wrist position (bent for long periods)
- Inflammation or swelling
